    Classroom Policy

    Behavior:

Students are to be "in control" of their behaviors and attitudes when in the classroom. They are to follow directions, speak nicely to others, complete work in a timely manner, follow school rules, and have a positive attitude.

    Money System:

Children have "banks" that they keep in their desks. They are paid for positive behaviors and charged for negitive behaviors. Students have writen the "responsibilities" them selves. They include: following directions, staying on task, being kind, doing homework, not tattling, and not yelling. They have also decided on the value of each behavior. A list is posted in the back of the room so that all children and teachers are aware of the behaviors expected and their money value. Every Friday a store is held during their math time. They are allowed to use the money they earn to buy items at the store. It is my hope that this will help teach the children the ideas of the working world. As adults we all know that we get paid for our abilities but also for our efforts. If a employee is not doing their job they do not get paid. This idea is true for the students in the classroom.  While they dont get paid for right or wrong answers they do get paid for following the "responsibilites" they have as students. Another beneifit of the money system is the practice of using money in the store. Children are responsible for counting out their money and deciding what they can buy.

    Weekly reports home:

Each Friday the children will take a report home to their parents that includes how their behavior was for the week, homework that was turned in, and upcomming events. Students are reponsible for giving their parents this report to have them look over and sign. The student is then to return it on Monday signed. It is treated as homework and the child will be paid or charged it's value ffom thier bank. I hope by sending this report home each week parents and I are able to work together to help the child succeed both academically and behaviorally. It also opens the lines of communication between the two.
